The Comanche Peak Wilderness is nestled between the northern boundary of Rocky Mountain National Park and the Poudre River. It is a more compact area with the same accessibility attributes as the Rawah Wilderness. This compactness offers shorter trips or dayhikes that fit the tightest schedule and are less physically demanding, yet give a taste of wilderness that will leave one wanting more. Beautiful views into the rugged majesty of Rocky Mountain National Park, elk herds on the high tundra, and azure lakes nestled at the base of craggy cirques provide an experience typically associated with extended, demanding hikes and remoteness. Longer routes and trips are possible, but require leaving the wilderness boundaries for portions of the trip.
